Hai Kang Life Delivers Science, Technology and Innovation to Bangladesh Government with its Mobile Field Unit Training in Dhaka

Hai Kang Life Corporation Ltd recently delivered technical seminar and training demonstration in Dhaka, Bangladesh of its Mobile Field Unit molecular diagnostic suitcase for pre-emptive surveillance of infectious diseases. The Government of Bangladesh and Ministry of Health showed keen interest in the leading-edge molecular technology that has come from Hong Kong-China and understanding how such innovative and rapid means could be applied to Bangladesh・s efforts to eradicate and control infectious diseases.

Mobile Field Unit training was conducted for expert groups within IEDCR (Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control & Research & National Influenza Centre (NIC), Central Disease Investigation of the Department of Livestock Services and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute. Observers also included members and chief technical advisors in avian and pandemic influenza from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO of UN).

Applying Innovation and Technology to International Health

Director of IEDCR, Professor Mahmudur Rahman commented the importance of sensitive field-application advance technology that Hai Kang Life have developed for avian influenza (H5N1) and influenza A/H1N1 are beneficial to Bangladesh in formulating and implementing preventative measures in counteracting the threat of severe infectious diseases. Professor Rahman also noted non-traditional methods are equally important for public health surveillance allowing a wide and immediate dissemination of information.

Professor Albert Yu, Chairman and CEO of Hai Kang Life who spoke in Dhaka on Winning the War against Influenza Pandemic pointed out the demand for innovative tools that are quick, accurate and simple to use in the laboratory and on the fields. :We apply innovation and technology, harness assets of Hong Kong and China so that other countries could use to significantly improve lives of people, animals and protect the environment.;

Dr Terence Lau, Chief Operating Officer emphasized the stronger capability of rapid molecular tests in which Hai Kang Life have developed over the last decade for use in common laboratories and now packed into a portable suitcase for use in any environment to enable quick and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases before outbreaks occur.
