Founded in 1999, Hai Kang Life Corporation Limited was established as a biotechnology company set out to commercialize research undertaken on molecular diagnostic of infectious diseases. Formerly Hong Kong DNA Chips Limited (HKDNA), the company launched its first innovative biotechnology product, H5 Avian Influenza Virus Detection Kit which went on to receive international recognition for utilizing advanced molecular biological techniques to provide immediate and sensitive detection of the genetic virus that was and continues to present threat worldwide.

Throughout the last decade, HKLife has made a significant commitment to research and development in advancing molecular diagnostics to functional reality, producing innovative lines of clinical and non-clinical diagnostic products, and delivering practical solutions to ensure the health and safety of society.

In 2000, HKLife established Hong Kong’s first fully-dedicated commercial molecular testing and R&D laboratory, offering testing services to the world’s research and industrial markets. We are strategically positioned at the hub of Asian biotechnology with our research and testing laboratories located in Hong Kong and Beijing China; offering microbiological and chemical services, and advanced technologies in nucleic acid based testing, utilizing PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and NASBA (Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification) platform technologies.

At HKLife, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of excellence and accuracy in the testing industry. We have received international recognition from various quality assurance systems. Recognized as one of the world’s leading GM (genetically modified) food testing laboratories in Asia, HKLife was the first commercial laboratory in Hong Kong to receive ISO (International Organization for Standardization) accreditation in this service. HKLife’s cornerstone reputation in testing and certification also stems from the company’s quick and accurate response to the early years’ outbreak of infectious diseases including avian influenza (AI), foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), We have established relationships with government health and agriculture agencies in various countries throughout the South Pacific region, Middle East and Europe; this enables us to maneuver quickly to assist during emergencies, monitor the climate of the biotechnology industry and keep abreast of changing rules, regulations, needs and trends.

In 2008, HKLife expanded into a group of four wholly-owned subsidiary companies to enhance the operation support of our extensive business lines and to facilitate commercial development and marketing of our novel EFADchip technology and various biotechnology products and services.

Angenomics Limited
Angenomics incorporates the marketing and global distribution management and support of our molecular diagnostic products for sensitive and specific detection and screening of viral and bacterial pathogens in livestock and animals. Over the last decade we have introduced series of molecular detection kits that delivers performance and quality assured virus assays of some of the most high profile animal diseases including avian influenza virus, foot-and-mouth disease and porcine associated pathogens.

DNA-Tech Limited
DNA-Tech provides for local and international clients comprehensive DNA testing services in the areas: paternity and kinship, forensic and accident victim identification, genetics, and pre-natal screening and diagnostics. DNA-Tech translates the technological advancements of HKLife to accessible services for healthcare industry, private and legal professionals, government and people worldwide. DNA-Tech also markets highly innovative diagnostic test kits for use in infectious diseases screening and clinical profiling assays.

The Food Safety Laboratories Limited
The Food Safety Laboratories (TFSL) has been driving the innovative application of DNA technology and testing to the global food industry, with focus and commitment to professional services and technical excellence. TFSL offers a wide array of molecular and microbiological services in food and consumer products testing, including quality certification programs, designed to meet the needs of manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and regulatory bodies to ensure safety and quality.

Beijing Hai Kang DNA Chips Limited (BJHKDNA)
In 2007, HKLife established its flagship research and development facility, and testing service center in Beijing, China. BJHKDNA is the wholly-owned subsidiary formed to encompass all commercial developments and market operations within Greater China, leveraging off HKLife’s built capability in effectively integrating technology into business culture and providing world-class biotechnology-based products.

Strategically positioned in Yizhuang district within the Beijing Economic Technological Development Area (BDA), 16km south-east of Beijing city center and just 25km from Capital International Airport, BJHKDNA houses state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology with an outstanding team of research and application scientists whose expertise spans across food, environment, veterinary and clinical disciplines.
