Hai Kang Life Corporation Limited (HKLife), formerly known as Hong Kong DNA Chips Limited (HKDNA), was established in 1999. We are strategically positioned at the hub of Asian biotechnology with the most advanced technologies and a team of world-class molecular biologists. The scope of our activities ranges from:
- research and development of our EFADchip system - the latest revolution in rapid clinical and non-clinical diagnosis and novel genetic markers
- to the provision of new veterinary and clinical diagnostic methods for infectious diseases and DNA testing services, such as: parentage, pre-natal screening, DNA fingerprinting and genetically modified food testing.
The R&D and commercialization of the novel EFADchip technology and our various DNA-related products and services are offered through HKLife and our subsidiaries: DNA-TECH Limited (www.dnatech.com.hk), Angenomics Limited (www.angenomics.com), and The Food Safety Laboratories Limited (www.foodsafetylabs.com), with our R&D, testing and production in strict accordance to international standards.
HKLife has been quick and accurate to respond during the recent outbreaks of avian influenza (AI), foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), as well as various other infectious disease outbreaks. We have established relationships with government health and agriculture agencies in various countries throughout the South Pacific region and the Middle East; this enables us to maneuver quickly to assist during emergencies, monitor the climate of the biotechnology industry and keep abreast of changing rules, regulations, needs and trends.
We also have a track record of working together with other organizations to develop cost-effective molecular biology solutions to everyday problems [patent applications have been granted or are pending on some of our innovations].
Our testing facilities and services have received international recognition from various quality assurance systems such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for GMO and DNA fingerprinting services and the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS) for GMO testing. We have also been actively participating in proficiency testing schemes like the Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) for animal-specific tests, the Genetically Modified Material Analysis Scheme (GeMMA) and the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) GMO proficiency testing scheme for GMO testing and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) for parentage testing services. HKDNA is one of the world's leading GM food-testing laboratories in Asia and the first Hong Kong laboratory to receive ISO accreditation in this service. |
